What to do and see in Switzerland

What can you say about Switzerland, apart from precision, clocks, chocolate and cheese with holes? It’s time to go out of the ordinary, and start a journey to visit together ten truly extraordinary places in this incredible country in the middle of the Alps and our neighbor. Today we will take you to discover the best things to do and see in Switzerland!

Visit Geneva

This small metropolis, located at the eastern end of Lake Geneva, known to all as Lake Geneva, is a symbol of welcome and peace, especially as it is home to some of the most important human rights institutions such as Unicef. United Nations and Red Cross.

Just in front of the Palace of Nations is a unique monument of the Broken Chair against landmines: a giant chair 12 meters high with one of its 4 legs broken. Another interesting attraction is the Patek Philippe Museum, which is entirely dedicated to typically Swiss watchmaking. On the lake, therefore, one cannot fail to admire the so-called Jet d’eau, the highest fountain in Europe with a stream that reaches up to 140 meters!

Lausanne

On the northern shore of Lake Geneva, just over half an hour from Montreux, is Lausanne, the Olympic city par excellence. Indeed, Lausanne hosts the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Museum which traces the history of the Games and the Olympic Park with its various sports facilities and stadiums.

In short, if you love sport, Lausanne will be a paradise for you. But it is also a city rich in monuments and natural beauties, such as the medieval cathedral or the Lavaux hills full of vineyards. Do not miss the Maison du Gruyère to discover the history and processing of the cheese for which Switzerland is famous all over the world.

Zermatt

Zermatt is a picturesque Swiss town in the Alps, at the foot of the Matterhorn, which stands out in the landscape. Its appearance is typical of a Swiss mountain village, with wooden houses and barns that give it the charm of its past.

The peculiarity of Zermatt is that it is completely green: in fact it is completely closed to traffic and can only be visited on foot, not only since 1947! The only vehicles allowed are horse-drawn carriages and electric vehicles. The city is naturally a favorite destination for alpine skiing and trekking, with 360 km of slopes and 400 km of slopes not to be missed on alpine tours.

St. Moritz

Located in the Alps, on the shores of the lake of the same name, is the luxurious St. Moritz, a reference point for scooter and ski enthusiasts, but also a town famous for its spas since the 19th century.

To immediately feel the mountain atmosphere, we recommend you stop at the historic Hanselmann pastry shop, founded in 1894, and order a tasty hot chocolate. In its small S. Moritz it is full of monuments such as the 12th century Leaning Tower with a slope of 5.5 degrees, and the Chesa Futura, an apartment building designed by the architect Norman Foster, with an unusual curved and sinuous shape that looks like a huge grain.
