Istanbul, officially known until 1923 as Constantinople, deserves more than a visit. The charming Turkish city is the most populated center in Europe, with about 15 million inhabitants, and attracts many visitors every year, attracted by the beauty of its historical monuments, its golden Mosques, bazaars and street food among the best ever. A mysterious and beautiful city, divided by the Bosphorus and poised between its Asian side and its European heart. As soon as you arrive you will be overwhelmed by the history of this wonderful city, but to get there from the airport you will need an Istanbul airport taxi that will take you to your destination from the airport. Today we will take you to discover the best things to see and do in Istanbul!
Blue Mosque
One of the most important mosques in the city and one of the most beautiful in the world. Decorated with over 21,000 turquoise ceramic tiles, Sultanahmet Camii is breathtaking. Visit it early in the morning or at least before 12:00 prayer time. Cover your head and get ready to walk shoeless on the red carpet that will welcome you at the entrance. Heavenly domes, golden lanterns and the silence of men in meditation: a unique atmosphere that you will not be able to resist.

Hagia Sofia Basilica
We owe the name of this extraordinary basilica to the “Divine Wisdom”. More commonly known as the “Hagia Sophia Mosque”, it is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. First a church, then a mosque, now a museum. Large domes, golden mosaics and splendid decorations that inspired St. Mark’s Square in Venice make this building commissioned by Justinian one of the greatest examples of Byzantine art of all time. Be prepared for a long line but it’s worth it!

Topkapi Palace
Built in 1453 after the capture of Constantinople, the Topkapi Palace was for centuries the residence of the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire. A wonderful building that can be visited in three hours. Courtyards, private rooms, lush gardens, vaults with all the jewels of the rulers and a beautiful harem, originally intended for the approximately 1,000 women of the Sultan. A small village with more than 300 rooms, kitchens, secret ravines and a breathtaking view not to be missed.

Basilic Tank
Another pearl built during the reign of Justinian, which only came to light at the end of the 19th century. The Basilica Cistern is the most magical place in the city and the largest underground cistern in Istanbul. Going down the stairs you will find yourself on the set of the James Bond film and you will be happy to go in search of the hidden treasure. The light of a torch, which reflects the water below, soaring columns and a wooden path that will lead you to the two “inverted” heads of Medusa.

Spice Bazaar
Misir Carsisi is the most famous spice bazaar in Istanbul. Opened in 1663, it is the perfect place to really get close to the local culture. A few steps from the Galata Bridge and the beautiful Mosceha Nuova, you will be greeted by the typical and unforgettable scents of this land. Come here to buy spices, sweets, dried fruit, love elixirs, exfoliating soaps and jasmine tea, a tea bud that transforms into a flower when in contact with hot water. Bargain, explore and enjoy the delicacies on display right from the stalls. A paradise of the senses not to be missed!
