When and what to see in Punta Cana

Punta Cana is a true natural paradise. The waters are turquoise, the coconut palms create a suggestive atmosphere and the beaches are truly beautiful. In short, we highly recommend that you spend your vacation in the Dominican Republic. The sea coast is about 40 kilometers long and is better equipped. Today we will take you to discover what to see and when to go to Punta Cana!

When to go

Overall, the climate is favorable in all seasons, the hottest months are generally from April to December, while the wettest months are May, August and November. The sea temperature, on the other hand, allows you to swim at any time of the year, especially if you prefer the areas of Santo Domingo.

The climate in Punta Cana during the summer season is very hot, only at night, the temperature is slightly milder. You need to move north to the Samana Peninsula if you want better weather. In the winter, however, the climate is similar to that of areas such as Chile and Peru. With mild temperatures at night, it could also feel cold, especially in the mountains.

The most favorable climate is that of December and January; in fact, the temperature is about 29 degrees during this period, and the rains are negligible.

What to see

The beaches are certainly not the only attraction of this place, in fact there are so many places to visit. Altos del Cavòn is considered a city of art thanks to the presence of an archaeological museum, a cultural center and an amphitheater that hosts international singers. Another destination not to be missed is the island of Saona, reachable with an hour of navigation from Punta Cana. On this beautiful island, you can admire the beauty of the set on which the Blue Lagoon movie was filmed.

The beaches are of fine sand and the road leading to the island is lined with swimming pools where tourists have the opportunity to take a nice refreshing swim along the way. Just 20 minutes from the airport is El Cortecito, the perfect place to shop and buy beautiful souvenirs from the area.

A captivating place in the Dominican Republic is also the Samana Peninsula, surrounded by numerous beaches and an ideal place for those who want to admire the characteristic cetaceans of this area, or Megaretta. For Indiana Jones-style hikers, El Limon Falls is perfect. Located in the heart of a beautiful tropical forest, it is approximately 50 meters high and the view from this beautiful attraction can be breathtaking.

Small caves also hide under spectacular jets of water. For those who love nature, the Haities National Park, the largest park in the country, is also worth visiting. The beaches are close to the most important cities, and the best known are: Playa Madama y Fronton, Playa Limon, Playa Dominicus, Playa Bonita and Playa Bayahibe.
