When to go

Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, Santorini can be considered a tourist destination almost all year round, in fact even the winter is quite mild, but the best climate is found from mid-April to May, late spring and obviously from June to August are the months that represent the high season, but also the best time to experience the beach as the days are long and hot and the evenings very cool. Given the Mediterranean climate and sea influences, Santorini has an overall excellent climate, so you can’t really tell when not to go.

What to eat

The gastronomy of this Greek island is characterized by agricultural products that are produced from the land itself, so you can savor the fruits of the volcanic soil that really gives a unique flavor to any food. On the table, a round courgette stuffed with meat, typical local cheeses, tomatoes stuffed with rice, white eggplant salads and apokhti (raw ham produced only on the island).

Particular attention deserves the capers, “Mediterranean summer roses”, which can be tasted in many dishes of the local cuisine. If we talk about recipes, a typical Santorini dish is a wild rabbit with cheese and egg sauce. On the table you cannot miss the Santorini wine, sweet and rich in flavor and very special thanks to the cultivation of the vine on volcanic soil.

What to pack

Leaving for Santorini means being aware that you are about to experience a holiday under the sign of the sun and the sea, so in your luggage you can’t miss swimsuits, sarongs, hats and above all protective and after-sun cream. Since Santorini is full of trails, you should also bring comfortable shoes with you for the various excursions. Also, to spend carefree evenings, remember to bring mosquito repellent.
