What to give for Christmas? The usual wool sweater? A beauty box? The latest smartphone? What if instead under the tree – to be delivered first at this point – there was a journey? Let’s find out which are the most beautiful destinations to go on holiday at Christmas.

1-Morocco

You hardly notice that it’s Christmas in the desert!
The Christmas holidays spent in the desert are a bit special. Thanks to mild temperatures all year round, Morocco can be visited all year round, including winter. Perfect o break the winter with a beach holiday. Is a whole winter without a sea too long? Take a plane to Morocco: this country is kissed by the sun all year round and enjoys a mild climate even in December and January. The most famous seaside resorts, such as Agadir, offer top-notch tourist services and boast breathtakingly beautiful beaches. Unfortunately, it may not be hot enough for swimming, but you can certainly lie in the sun and walk in short sleeves. The sea, however, is not the only good reason to go to Morocco in winter: the cold season is ideal for visiting the splendid imperial cities without suffering from the excessive heat of summer. Sumptuous palaces of sultans, lush gardens, intricate medinas and colorful markets await you: add to this the tasty Moroccan cuisine and the legendary hospitality of its inhabitants and you will have the perfect ingredients for an original Christmas holiday.Natale in Marocco - Le Feste di Natale nel Deserto

2-Canary Islands

Mild climate all year round, with an average temperature of 20ºC in the coldest months. That’s why the Canaries are the ideal destination to spend the holidays by the sea. With the best climate in the world: an eternal spring, mild all year round, thanks to the trade winds, sea breezes and the Gulf Stream. For this, the Canaries are a perfect destination for a warm Christmas. Tenerife is the largest island of the archipelago, ideal for those looking for entertainment and nightlife, but with an amazing natural heritage behind the coast, protected by parks and nature reserves. Los Llanos, at the foot of Mount Teide, is a perfect retreat. Flying to the Canaries to celebrate Christmas and New Year is always a wonderful idea, considering the warm climate that the islands guarantee, from Lanzarote to Tenerife. However, the many tourists who decide to leave the borders of their country to go to the Canary Islands are not offered only clear skies and volcanic beaches. One of the main attractions of Christmas in Gran Canaria is the Belén de arena, or the nativity scene made entirely of sand. Magnificent sculptures, proposed by various artists on Las Canteras beach, which attract tourists from all over the world.

3-Lapland

Land of Sami, northern lights and midnight suns, Lapland awaits you for an unforgettable journey a stone’s throw from the Arctic Circle. A trip to Lapland – or Northern Finland – means discovering a new and unique world, where freezing winters turn into magic and crisp summers translate into outdoor fun. A trip to Lapland is a unique travel experience, to be done once in a lifetime. The fastest way to reach Lapland from Italy is by plane departing from Rome and Milan and arriving in cities such as Rovaniemi, Ivalo, Kemi or Kittilä. Consider that getting around Lapland and the rest of the country is easy, despite the difficult climate, given the dense transport network and the high number of stopovers throughout the territory: Finland has 27 airports, five of which are connected by international flights . Finland’s climate is temperate cold, while that of Lapland, located in the northern part of the country, is decidedly arctic: freezing in winter, cool in summer. There is no right time to go to Lapland, there is Lapland in winter, wonderful with its whitewashed landscapes and northern lights, and Lapland in summer, lush with its emerald forests and midnight suns.Storia del Villaggio di Babbo Natale in Lapponia Rovaniemi Finlandia

4-Rockefeller Center

December is a magical month in New York, even more so than it is in the rest of the year, thanks to the atmosphere that only the Christmas holidays can create when the city is dressed in a further enveloping splendor and warmth, giving images and unforgettable memories. The beginning of the Christmas festivities in New York is marked on Thanksgiving, when Santa Claus makes his appearance at the end of the parade. From there you enter the festive atmosphere also thanks to Black Friday and Christmas shopping.

But undoubtedly the symbolic moment is celebrated by the long-awaited lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center; every year it takes place between the end of November and the beginning of December. The first lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center is accompanied by a real ceremony, which aims to “officially” kick off the Christmas season. The Christmas atmosphere in New York is truly indescribable: there are countless unique lights and decorations. For Americans, Christmas is an important holiday and this is visible in the enthusiasm with which they decorate their homes. Every year a huge Christmas tree is lit up at Rockefeller Center and the shop windows on Fifth Avenue are beautifully decorated! If you are in New York during the holiday season, there are several things to do to get into the holiday spirit.
